O projecto \u00e9 financiado pela Ag\u00eancia Austr\u00edaca de Desenvolvimento (ADA) atrav\u00e9s do seu esquema de Financiamento de Parceria Acad\u00e9mica APPEAR, que \u00e9 implementado pela Turismo representam uma institui\u00e7\u00e3o de ensino superior e investiga\u00e7\u00e3o orientada para a investiga\u00e7\u00e3o aplicada, com uma forte dimens\u00e3o internacional e uma clara integra\u00e7\u00e3o de conhecimentos empresariais e experi\u00eancia pr\u00e1tica no ensino.<br>\nO Instituto de Turismo integra o Departamento de Business e concentra-se em tr\u00eas principais linhas de investiga\u00e7\u00e3o: economia regional e investiga\u00e7\u00e3o em agroneg\u00f3cio, estudos do consumidor e gest\u00e3o da inova\u00e7\u00e3o, bem como marketing e tecnologia no turismo. O instituto lidera atualmente diversos projetos nacionais e internacionais de investiga\u00e7\u00e3o, capacita\u00e7\u00e3o e consultoria nestas \u00e1reas de especializa\u00e7\u00e3o. Oferece ainda uma licenciatura em Turismo e um mestrado em Marketing, com a possibilidade de especializa\u00e7\u00e3o em Turismo como uma das \u00e1reas de enfoque.\n\nO turismo sustent\u00e1vel desempenha um papel central no Instituto de Turismo, n\u00e3o apenas no \u00e2mbito dos projetos e publica\u00e7\u00f5es cient\u00edficas, mas tamb\u00e9m no ensino, estando a sustentabilidade Contribuiu para projetos nacionais e internacionais de investiga\u00e7\u00e3o nas \u00e1reas da adapta\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0s altera\u00e7\u00f5es clim\u00e1ticas, resili\u00eancia regional, solu\u00e7\u00f5es baseadas na natureza e desenvolvimento sustent\u00e1vel do turismo na Europa Central e do Sudeste.<\/p><p>A sua investiga\u00e7\u00e3o foi publicada em revistas cient\u00edficas internacionais de refer\u00eancia, incluindo <i>Annals of Tourism Research<\/i> e <i>Journal of Outdoor Recreation and Tourism<\/i>Na IMC, leciona nas \u00e1reas da sustentabilidade, \u00e9tica e planeamento tur\u00edstico, promovendo o di\u00e1logo entre estudantes, stakeholders e decisores pol\u00edticos. A UEM \u00e9 uma institui\u00e7\u00e3o abrangente e multidisciplinar baseada na forma\u00e7\u00e3o e na investiga\u00e7\u00e3o.<br>\nA Escola Superior de Hotelaria e Turismo de Inhambane (ESHTI) \u00e9 uma unidade org\u00e2nica da Universidade Eduardo Mondlane, vocacionada para a forma\u00e7\u00e3o polit\u00e9cnica atrav\u00e9s do ensino e da investiga\u00e7\u00e3o aplicada, tamb\u00e9m na \u00e1rea espec\u00edfica da hotelaria e do turismo, com o objetivo de promover o desenvolvimento de capacidades, a inova\u00e7\u00e3o, a an\u00e1lise cr\u00edtica e o conhecimento cient\u00edfico de natureza multi e transdisciplinar.\n\nA ESHTI iniciou as suas atividades em 2003 com a Licenciatura em Turismo e duas \u00e1reas de sa\u00edda: Planeamento Tur\u00edstico e Informa\u00e7\u00e3o e Anima\u00e7\u00e3o Tur\u00edstica. Em 2007, a Escola introduziu a Licenciatura em Gest\u00e3o Hoteleira e, em 2009, lan\u00e7ou tr\u00eas novos cursos (Anima\u00e7\u00e3o Tur\u00edstica, Informa\u00e7\u00e3o Tur\u00edstica e Gest\u00e3o de Mercados Tur\u00edsticos).\n\nDesde a sua cria\u00e7\u00e3o, a ESHTI tem implementado projetos de investiga\u00e7\u00e3o para compreender quest\u00f5es de g\u00e9nero no setor agr\u00edcola, os impactos das altera\u00e7\u00f5es clim\u00e1ticas nos processos de planeamento do desenvolvimento a n\u00edvel local, a rela\u00e7\u00e3o entre turismo e agricultura, a conserva\u00e7\u00e3o da biodiversidade, entre outros temas. Ao longo do seu percurso acad\u00e9mico participou em eventos cient\u00edficos, desenvolveu s\u00f3lida experi\u00eancia em gest\u00e3o pedag\u00f3gica e desenvolveu compet\u00eancias t\u00e9cnicas e profissionais no sector da hotelaria, tendo participado como formadora nas \u00e1reas de alojamento e servi\u00e7os de restaura\u00e7\u00e3o e bar dirigidos \u00e0s comunidades locais e em alguns casos, gestores de estabelecimentos hoteleiros. Associada \u00e0s disciplinas que leciona, trabalhou tamb\u00e9m com as comunidades locais no incentivo a cooperativas e associa\u00e7\u00f5es para o desenvolvimento do agroturismo e esta rela\u00e7\u00e3o tornou-se mais s\u00f3lida devido \u00e0s pesquisas actuais sobre a integra\u00e7\u00e3o das economias locais no Na sua fun\u00e7\u00e3o de coordenadora, definiu a base conceptual do projecto, estabeleceu parcerias internacionais e supervisionou a sua orienta\u00e7\u00e3o estrat\u00e9gica e implementa\u00e7\u00e3o em todos os pacotes de trabalho. A sua lideran\u00e7a foi determinante para o desenvolvimento do enquadramento acad\u00e9mico do projecto, para o fortalecimento da coopera\u00e7\u00e3o entre parceiros austr\u00edacos e mo\u00e7ambicanos e para assegurar o alinhamento com os princ\u00edpios do desenvolvimento sustent\u00e1vel. O seu empenho e vis\u00e3o tiveram um impacto duradouro no desenvolvimento e nos resultados do projecto.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"margin-bottom: 6.0pt;\"><span style=\"color: black;\">During her time in CAST Mozambique Claudia was a Professor and Researcher in Tourism and Sustainable Development at the <span data-teams=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/research.imc.ac.at\/en\/organisations\/department-of-business\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Desenvolvimento Sustent\u00e1vel no Departamento de Business<\/a><\/span> da<\/span>\u00a0<span data-teams=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fh-krems.ac.at\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Universidade de Ci\u00eancias Aplicadas do IMC<\/a><\/span><span style=\"color: black;\"> Krems, Austria. With an academic background in tourism, international development and social anthropology, she conducts extensive research in Southeast Asia, Latin America, Africa, London and Austria. Her work focuses on regional, rural and sustainable tourism and destination development, with particular emphasis on the role tourism plays in community empowerment, social change and the achievement of the <\/span><span style=\"color: black;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sdgs.un.org\/goals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustent\u00e1vel das Na\u00e7\u00f5es Unidas<\/a> (ODS).<\/span><\/p><p style=\"margin-bottom: 6.0pt;\"><span style=\"color: black;\">Claudia publishes widely on community-based tourism, sustainable development, power relations and social change in tourism. She delivers international keynotes and lectures, is engaged in capacity building initiatives, and actively contributes to academic and professional conferences worldwide. She works as an experts for the UN Tourism Academy and serves as editorial board member of <em>Tourism Geographie<\/em> and the <em>Austrian Journal of South-East Asian Studies (ASEAS)<\/em>. Claudia co-edited the book <em>Tourism and Development in Southeast Asia<\/em> (Routledge, 2020) and the <em>Handbook of Niche Tourism<\/em> (Edward Elgar, 2022) and has published widely in academic target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Universidade de Ci\u00eancias Aplicadas do IMC<\/a> Krems, specialising in tourism marketing, destination management and digital marketing. Holding a PhD in Tourism Marketing and Technology, he led over 50 international consultancy and research projects, including several major EU-funded initiatives.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"499\" data-end=\"940\">His work spanned visitor statistics, tourism planning, economic impact studies and feasibility assessments, with clients such as UNESCO, the Scottish Government and VisitScotland. He is a UNESCO Inclusive Policy Lab expert and a founding member of the European Covid-19 Tourism Research Engagement Consortium. His research, published in leading international journals, focused on tourism management, digital marketing and ethics in tourism.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"942\" data-end=\"1228\">Within the CAST Mozambique project, Giancarlo contributed as a trainer and supported the development and implementation of project activities.
